I really hope Andy will get well soon!! He's one of the greatest guitar players out there, a huge inspiration to me. When they played Ice live in Tilburg no one dared to speak, perfect silence except for the music, the same with 'for today'. Thanks for that! It's really sad to see anyone that sick, good luck with getting well Andy!

Hey Andrew. What can I say? Camel's music has remained a solid rock in my life for the past 25 years now. Thanks to you and Susan for making Camel possible and never giving up the fight despite so many changes. I have thoroughlly enjoyed (and still do) all the music that Camel has produced over the years and I still find my way back to it on a regular basis. A very big THANK YOU for your efforts on releasing all the concert DVD's. As I have never seen the band perform live at all, it is a pleasure to see everyone in action. I very much look forward to the new DVD release soon! Good luck on your BMT and many well wishes and prayers to you and Susan in this difficult time. The family of Camel is behind you 100%! P.S. Thank you for all the autographs (cds, posters, etc.) - my brother is always jealous of that...

Hi there/dear Andy, I do understand a litte bit of your illness, I think. I have been suffering from respiratory (lung) problems - sometimes a concert was a big offer for me. Now with good medicine my problems are mainly resolved. And as always as you told me from 'Rain Dances', 'music is the only way to tell you/me how you feel'! Well, that is for you. Let the music help you. Save you! And during that dark period of my life Your music (esp. Dust & Dreams) kept me on the right track! Be strong and return from your BMT in good health. My dear Andy, it was a shock to hear about your illness. I have been listening to your wonderful music for the last 26 years, collected all of your cds and dvds and also seen you live with Camel in Turin on September 2000, which was a dream come true. Hope you feel better soon, to enlighten our lives with your blessed gift, a soul like yours must go on forever. Fight it, and win, we will be there waiting for you as always. Truly yours, Vincenzo

Come on Andrew, Use everything you have to fight this. Your bravery and courage are, as your music has been, an inspiration. With your family and friends and fans, you can reach for the stars and touch them easily.like hundreds of others I will be thinking of you and Susan and watching out for the inevitable news of your speedy recovery. This guest book is just one way you can see the love and best wishes that you are surrounded with. A while ago now, you made my day, by taking the trouble to answer personally an e-mail I sent to you, followed by a post card from the U.S, again signed by you. I did.nt know at the time, but your health was cause for concern, but you still did that for me. Words can,t describe what that means to me. All the love in the world to you. Take great care and good luck with all the treatment you have. It WILL be worth it in the end. Ann Devaney. A fan of 35 plus years. xxxx

Hi Andy, I just read of your forthcoming operation and wish you all the best for that and for a speedy recovery! I have never seen you play live, so, as a great consolation, I watch pressure points from time to time, the music and performance never fails to move me! So get well soon, I'm looking forward to seeing you perform all those great songs one day on stage!!! Love to you and yours, Mel

Hi Andy. Once again I sit here and listen to LIES. (your song). I could just sit and listen to it for hours and hours. I can't believe that anyone can write something like this. It's just so unbelivably fantastic. As i have said in previous notes me and my father have listened to you probably more than a lot of other people who writes here. I guess he (my father) thinks of himself as the biggest Camel fan in the family, but I¨'m startin to disagree, because I'm a gigantic fan of all Camel ever written. Just don't get worse, get a lot better and bewitch me with your music once again! Hope I hear a lot more new albums from you!

I hope this message gets through to Andrew and Susan...because there is quite some rubbish in the guest book...unfortunatly. I hope you guys will hang in there because problems with health is never something to be happy with. I also want you to understand that my thoughts are with you all the time and therefore i also hope that the healing process after the surgery will be good and hopefully, quick. I am also looking forward to the upcoming release of the new moondances DVD...if there is more in the archives...put it out on DVD. (please) As a fan i also understand that you can't write anyone in person but i do hope that you will read the messages posted here so that you know our thoughts are with you, Andrew and Susan. In the beginning i had good hope there with be a little Camel tour somewhere on this globe, but after reading about the illness...just forget it for this moment...get into good strenght and health because that is the most important thing at this moment...and by bringing us DVD's and maybe CD's with alternate recordings or live concerts we will be happy as well... Greetings and kind regards, peter from The Netherlands

Andy, Who We Are is the best love song ever written. EVER. If I had a dollar for every time I listened to it, sang to it, or cried to it, I’d send every dollar to you to help you now. I can’t say I Can Feel Your House From Here; only you know how you feel. I can, however, tell you how all Camel fans feel - we love you and we want you healthy. Remember you are not alone. BMTs are successful. And we, your adoring audience, will be right here wishing you well. Emily Dickenson said, “love can do all but raise the dead”. We are sending our love to you because… We were meant for each other We will help one another And it really won’t matter at all Who we are.

Andrew and band, I have been a Camel fan since the 70's and still say Rain Dances is the best album made at that time. Elke still gives me chills. The band was so under regognized but I must have turned on many many people through the years and they have in turn become Camel fans. The albums will never get old or dated because the vocals and song writing was so brilliant. I recently traveled to England and picked up the most recent Nod cd and its terrific. I wish they would have used the heavy english accent on more recordings. I will always have a fondness in my heart for CAMEL. One Christmas I gave Rain Dances to all of my family members and I think they still recall. I also think I can See Your House From here had the first techno song ever Remote Romance. What a great band. LOVE YOU ALL cheers, mail@billthon.com

I was very sad when I read of Andrew's health problems. I really like to share with you these difficult moments and open quwstions and worries of tomorrow. I have had so many great moments during my life when listening Andrews' solos and music. Andrew has given me hope and light when things have gone bad. Since 1980 I have been your fan. You have been my band. And you are my band. If I'd get a similar problem now than Andrew has got - I'd certainly go and find Camel's music to encourage me and be with me through difficult times. Today I'm a vicar in my congregation in Finland. Today I pray for You all and especially for Andrew. I pray to God that his Good will happens. Thank you for all. I'll be waiting for good news before christmas.

Andy, I first saw you on stage in the mid-seventies. Thirty years later and I am still avidly listening to Camel. Thank you for so much beautiful music (a rarity in today's musical climate). As I tell my own patients, a big part of coming out on top with any illness is having a positive attitude, being as happy as possible and perhaps above all having the support and encouragement of those around you. My thoughts are with you for a speedy recovery. I look forward to hearing more fantastic music and seeing you on stage in the near future. Best regards Robaire Beckwith

Andy I'm sorry to hear about your ill health and wish you all the very best. Your guitar playing is the only guitar playing that always gets the hairs standing up on the back of my neck. Hello Andy, To you - all the best towards returning to full health. To you and your band members of the years - you are simply the best guitarist I have heard when it comes to making it sing the way you bend the strings. You are a master. I am hopeful that you will be able to continue to play for as long as you live and never let age stop you. I purchased both of you DVD's(autograpghed) and was hoping some day to see something come of your jam session at the end of the first DVD. Thanks for all of your music as it has been a part of my life since first hearing Moonmadness back in 1976. It has been a part of my life since and I will take it with me up to my last breath. Andy, Since 1970 I have seen many gigs including most of the world's best known sophisticated bands many times(Zep, Yes, Floyd, Genesis etc). I am a member of the UK Classic Rock Society, and the gig you played for us at Rotherham in 1997 was one of the best musical experiences I have known. Seeing such musicianship and energy at such close quarters (only a few feet away) was fantastic. It left me, a sober serious 42 year old, on a high for weeks. Thank you, and my very best wishes for your recovery.

Andy, You are one of my greatest inspirations. Your composing and solo improvisations led by the mesmorizing warm guitar sound is so moving and special unlike anything else out there. I always think of your career as a big journey - visiting and mixing many styles of music with great success - rock, fusion, classical, pop ,and even new age in Nude (a real favourite!). You've been a real "Camel" in the music desert for so long, always maintaining your incrdible feel. We here in Israel have formed a Camel tribute band, and are playing around 25 Camel tunes at the moment from all albums up to Nude, and it feels great doing it. The latest news really shocked me. So I really hope we hear good news from now on. I join everyone in saying: never let go!

Andy! The guitar is a sensitive lady in your hands, and she always cry. Listening to the Lawrence ending solo, the best ever note selection on earth, while crying to death, I can’t believe it is a human being’s composition. Andy tell us your secrets! Here in Iran/Tehran, there is a coffee shop in Tochal mountain, playing Rajaz all the time. Even for this mountain and its tired mountaineers you shouldn’t stop. World is waiting for unborn masterpieces in your mind. Do not stop! Best wishes to you and Susan,

Hello Andy, I've been a fan of your music for about 10 years. Your guitar playing and sense of timing is immaculate. I'm not going to compare your playing with anyone else's, because it is totally yours, and Camel's music is unique in the world. Whenever I am ill or unhappy, I listen to music. It is everywhere in the world. Your playing on "Ice" and "Lunar Sea" take me to places that transcend pain. Best wishes to you and Susan. Andrew.

Hello Andy, Well let me say first that I am listening to some music from the Echoes album on my computer. Lady Fantasy is my all time favorite Camel song. I am 49 years old and the only time I got to see Camel was 1975 in Fort Worth Texas when you were the warmup group for Wishbone Ash, one of my favorite bands. You have such a smooth guitar sound that conveys so much emotion when I listen to your playing. Well I just wanted to say how much I apprecitate your music over the years. I will pray for you and your family. Take care and God bless you.

Dear Andy, I am a "boy" of 47 years and I have discovered many years ago by chance your music. And it was as an illumination, a lightning. I love to play and unfortunately I have not been able to be a musician, but I am growing old behind a desk in a narrow office. I am able however to tell you that while I am working listening the music, also yours, and only the music allows me to be able to fly aloft. Thanks Andy, continuous to write your beautiful music (ICE, for example). Pippo

Hello Andy, You've be an inspiration. As far as lead guitar in music is concerned your one of the best. Your melodic guitar voice in your music made me rethink the way I played. I was never able to make a career out of playing professionally, but everyone who has heard me play would always ask how I developed "my style" the answer was always Andy Latimer of Camel. As we all get older, remember "rust never sleeps". Get well soon. Danny...Andy Latimer fan for life!

Your music continues inspiring all of us who found a heart beat and all the skies beyond in the music. Even the younger fan is inspired by it. Myself being 26. I have found all the answers in there. Hi Andy, Hi Susan. Sorry to hear about your illness Andy. I wish u well in the future and hope that your health will steadily improve to give u a great quality of life. I first Camel one sunday in 1978 while I was stocktaking in Sainsburys at Forest Hill,in south east London. The album was Moon Madness and i really liked what i heard. I asked my manager who it was. Three months later I bought Moon Madness and Camel have been my favourite band ever since. Ive got all the albums (twice) and replaced them all with CDs. On my bedroom wall i have a signed poster (Dust and Dreams)so i think of Camel every day. Thank you so much for all the great times i have had - listning to albums and loads of concerts. They are like photo reminding me of so many good times. I look forward to the new album and mini concerts when u are feeling much better. love to u both and take care.

Dear Andrew and Susan : As so may are expressing in this guest book, the music of Camel have been a major part of my life from the very first release of the band. I love all the albums but recently Dust and Dreams and Harbour of Tears are the ones that get spun repeatedly in this household. Such gorgeous music ! I wish you nothing but the best and thank you so much for your music over the years. My prayers are with you! All the best, Brian H. +

Dear Andrew and Susan, The reason why I turn to play guitar was the moment I discovered Camel. I didn't knew there was a more bright and singing way to play an electric guitar the way Andrew did. And still I'm thinking the same way. I also discovered that music can be an adventure in stead of a tune out of some speakers. It change my way of listening and now I am a (not proffesional) guitarplayer for already 30 year. I saw Camel in Rotterdam in ± 1982 in De Doelen. One friend of us was suffering from a broken leg and you came to us after the great gig and we talked a little time with each other. In the line up there was Tom Scherpenzeel on keyboard. The gig was a picture in our minds which will never fade away. I read the artricle of the illness of Andrew. I always try to find some news about him after the Camel years. I hope very much Andrew and Susan can deal with it a long time. I hope you can record some things and I will follow it with my interrest. Mayby Andrew will find some musicians and singers to assist him with the new material. Because musice and the tone of Andrew never lost! I hope you find a way to do your things and be happy with it. I have been a huge fan for 30 years. To this day, Ice is still my all time favourite song (For Today being a close second) Reading through your Guestbook, I must say that I am blown away by the comments. You obviously have been blessed with a very special gift. I can’t compare with other fan clubs, having never read any others, but I doubt that there are many musicians who have touched others people lives the way you have. There are a lot of brilliant musicians out there and you are obviously one of them. Your music touches the soul in an almost spiritual way and very few people have this gift. Thank you for the magical music you have given us over the years and I pray for your recovery. God bless. JM

Andy - I've been a fan from the early 70's and I've always held you up as my favorite guitarist. You've always displayed such feel, taste and emotion in your playing and composition and you've been an inspiration. I recall when you first put out the newsletter after moving to California and how you took the time to pen a personal note on that first issue. That was class. I finally got to see you in concert a few years back at the Bottomline in New York and the Nearfest Festival. It was pure magic! I hope you're around to give us much more music and best wishes with your health struggles.

Music connects to soul and soul connects to God. When I listen to your music or watch your DVDs, I really feel something strange inside me. My soul feels your celestial music and I feel the same thing you feel while you're playing. You speak with your guitar to God and I can hear it.

Andy, I sincerely hope that your health gets back to as near normal as possible. I would love a new album and tour, but at the end of the day your health is more important than anything else, given the choice I would rather you got better and didn't release an album than forced an album and harmed yourself in the making. I moved to the sunshine from Scotland because my wife has a couple of illnesses that can be partially helped by "nice weather" so i'm aware how much illnesses can impact on your life. I hope you and Susan have another 30 years together, your music will live in my memory until the day I die.

I was introduced to Camel three years ago when a friend gave me On The Road 1981 confidently guaranteeing I would fall in love with this band. His assurance proved prophetic. I am 43 and buying up all your CDs and discovering each one as if it was an uncovered treasure. At the same, I find myself lamenting why I hadn't found this wonderful music earlier. I'm saddened to read that you've been slowed by ill health but place much hope in the fact your love and desire to create music hasn't waned. Thank you for keeping your fans informed. Dear Andrew, I am very sad about your health problems. I am a glowing Fan of you and your music since I first heard "Lady Fantasy" in our local Discotec. All trough the years and changing musical styles arond me, the music of Camel was (and is) always my favorite. Right in this Moment I read about your illness in the Wikipedia Lexikon. Be strong as long as you can! For me you are at least the W. A. Mozart of the 20th Century. Your powerful and undescridable fine music was always joy in my life. Unfortunately I celebrated Camel only one time live on stage, it was in Stuttgart with "Moonmadness". All the best for you and sorry for cruel english. -Mike-

August 31st, 2007 Dear Andrew: I´d like to say that, when I first listened to your music, it blew my head. From the first time I knew it was the kind of music I´ve looking for years. I heard all kinds of music, but yours and Camel´s is awesome, totally different from every other band from the 70s, 80s 90s and these past years. Thank you for providing this music to the world, despite people that don´t listen at it. Personally, I want to send you a strong hug from my country and my best wishes for you to get better in your health. Please keep at it. And a strong hug for Susan too, for supporting us fans, because she tells us all the news relative to you and the band, and I think that you can´t ask for other woman beside you. Agustín. I first saw Camel in the late 70's as a teenager. As someone about to celebrate his 50th in 2007 I wonder if I will see Camel/AL live again. Sitting here watching Youtube videos brings a warm feeling of nostalgia and some pleasant if not bittersweet memories of youth. It would be great if I could just one more time see the band , see AL play that great music - feel those emotions once more. The icing (sic) would be to meet and say to AL - that was some fine guitar playing and thanks for those memories which I'll probably carry with me until my mind fades. Ice.......

I first stumbled upon Camel's music two years ago, and have since been enthralled by the Snow Goose and several other of Camel's albums. Unfortunately, I made this discovery after the Farewell Tour and only recently learned of Mr. Latimer's ill health. To Mr. Latimer, I wish you good health and continued creativity. I hope to one day see you perform live

I don't know how anything I will write here could add anything but I feel compelled to tell you Andy, that your music has played an incredibly large role in my life's enjoyment of music. From when I first tried your music back in '75 with a used vinyl purchase of the Snow Goose, up until now, you remain one of my all-time favourites. I'm terribly sorry to hear of your illness and wish you much betterment, ease and comfort. Thank you thank you thank you for all the great tunes and for all future Camel projects. All the best!

Oh, my.. It's quite a list you got here! What a support! I was very moved by reading all these comments and I share the love and admiration for you and your wonderful music. I have followed Camel since the early days and these days I'm listening alot to 'Dust And Dreams, 'Harbour of Tears', 'Rajaz' and 'Nod and A Wink'. I think these albums may be your best yet. I so much miss your guitarplaying, Andy - You have been my hero for 30 odd years! You have touched me deeply with your honest music and the way you are playing. Words fail me at the moment. All I can say is THANK YOU and keep fighting this. You are such a gifted composer and guitarist and I really long for the new Camel album! Love and respect to You and Susan from Sweden../Johnny

Andy, I don't know what to say. I don't know express with words. After I read the text about your illness, I was very sad. Because you're my hero. The music you created is fantastic, the first time I heard The Snow Goose it became automatically one of the best albums (if not the best) I ever heard. Nobody plays guitar and transmit the feeling like you. You are a GENIUS. Every album you produced is good, there is no exceptions. Your music will always live on, I will always, always hear your music, the beautiful flutes, guitars and keyboards. I never got a chance to go on a Camel show because I discovered the band few years ago. But I don't care. I desire the best luck to you, my hero. Take Care. Never let go! I am very saddened to hear of Andy's illness. For all of the joy and comfort that Camel's music has provided me through the years since I first heard them in the early 70's until now, I wish him peace and comfort in his life. May God bless you both with all of the comfort and strength possible for his trying days. Tomorrow will be the fourth anniversary of my engangement to the love of my life Joyce. Had it not been for the song Fingertips that may not have ever happpened. We were friends for years after my divorce and her loss of her first husband. We went through other relationships but stayed close. Then my company moved me hundreds of miles from her. I was making the long drive back to the Houston, Texas area to help close the office there. That would have probably been my last trip to Houston, Tx. where she lived. While listening to Fingertips, it dawned on me that who I was looking for to live the rest of my life with, was right there in front of me all of the time. Several days later she agreed to marry me and we've been together since. She has also grown to be a big fan. The Pressure Points DVD that Andy autographed is the prize of my (our) rather extensive music collection. We are even getting help choreographing our wedding dance which be danced to Fingertips. I've always felt that Andy is one of the most under rated and under appreciated guitarist is history. Thanks for all of many hours of enjoyment and inspiration plus the lyrics that opened my eyes to love again. May God bless you both.

I was just told about your illness by Terry C. today and thought I would drop you a line... I dont know if you remember, but years ago at my shop(starving musician) we had some nice gentle conversations about gear etc.. I always thought Rock stars were supposed to be A-holes! But you, Andy, are a gentleman and an artist .I hope someday we can continue our talks about what ever strikes our fancy.. ROC-ON!... Dave Stein..Santa Clara Ca.

Your music has been both inspirational and emotionally uplifting for me since the early 1970's. I do so deeply wish you Andrew and Susan many more creative moments, happiness and peace. You are still one of this country's most underated guitarists/musicians and as I said in a letter to the Melody Maker many years ago unlike so many other Bands Camel could actually play! Yesterday I went through my old tapes and, luckily, came across MIRAGE to which I haven't been listening for at least 15 years. I thought it's high time to put it on again and it was amazingly powerful, vibrant, interesting, stunning and I sat there listening mesmerised two times in a row, surprised that none of the musical facetes have faded in my memory. I hope this strength will be with you! Best wishes T

Just watched "Coming of Age" DVD, somehow everytime i see a performance or hear a song from Camel i feel kind of angry, because of how underrated the band is. Its Ridiculous, i will never figure out why Genesis, Yes and Floyd had the commercial success this band deserved that never had. THOUGH i would happly say Premiata Forneria Marconi and Camel made a difference even being less known than the rest of the bands named before and so when i saw the guest book with a LOT of entries i see you got enough followers Andy as well as family and friends support, thats enough for being proud of your contribution as an artist, musician and i guess that its what is all about. Stay Classy I hope i could hear good news from You and the rest of the band, and Susan Off course. Abrazo.

Hi Andrew & Susan, Only just read the moving news item by Susan, hope you are feeling as well as you can & are looking forward to writing new songs / playing a few small gigs, I first saw Camel on the TV with the first BBC sound & vision (1977) and then at the Free trade hall in Manchester (now appartments)for the Breathless tour, also in Sheffield on the farewell tour. You are missed more than I can write here. Love you & the rest of the guys, all the best of heath Gareth

A fan for too many years from a distance but nevertheless always close to the music that is ever present in my thoughts. I am encouraged by the lovely words that Susan included in the email update and hope that Andrew is feeling well and apologise for the b****y aweful summer. Hopefully the rain inspires in other directions and helps the creative flow. Any small one off shows would be an absolute pleasure after many years of missing a live gig by Andy and the crew. My God! PLEAESE get thst man well again! After Floyd the man's music has been shall I also say a soundtrack of my life! Dust and Dreams was my track when I flew to the Gulf, only not go west morer "Go East" "Nude" I remember listening to on a sea wall in Wales on a new Walkman. Awesome. I was inspired to write poetry by that. Breathless - what solos in there! That pressure points album - as a Brit expat living in Germany - yes it presses the buttons. You have been there all my aduklt life Andrew and your work continues to inspire. All I am saying is get well as soon as you can. Everyone loves you in the Camel Family. Take it easy and one day play Munich! Hey there must be millions of German fans too - why not play ne of the Thomas Gottschalk shows? Get wel soon, Jeremy Stocks.

Before writing this, I was researching if there was any chance to see Camel here in Mexico again and, I found bad and good news; the bad news is of course your illness, the good news are the new album and your plans of mini tours. I want to think that when you fill strong enough you will think on your fans here in Mexico (I agree with Susan that the glass is more than half full). Also, I'd like to comment that when I read Susan's letter to the fans, I couldn't avoid to think in life and luck; my conclusion is that you are a hell lucky guy, I don't have the slightest idea of the pains you are going through but, you are gifted musician and composer, you have fans that love your work (I like to think that Progressive is an award that we, listeners, give to the musicians regardless of their will; and we, progressive fans, are hard to please) and above all, Susan (man, she seems to sing for your existence), I see a big plus on what you are. Lastly, get well, try to schedule Mexico on your coming mini tours, tell to your college prog musicians (of course, those that are your friends, pretty much we know who they are) that there are people that appreciate your work very much and, as usual, keep going where no musician had gone before. Un abrazo.

Hello Andy, hello Susan I just discovered the news that Andy is sick, and I take the chance to wish both of you all the power and belief (in whatever you call All-That-Is) that you need to live through these times. Some months ago, I tried to send Andy a letter to the Camelproductions address in CA, but it was returend as undeliverable. So I just post it here and hope you sense what I'm trying to convey. btw, forget about the technical question at the end - I wrote it when I didn't know you have more important things to deal with. +++++++++++++ my name is Oliver, I am from Germany, but of course you don't know me. I am just a fan of Camel, or maybe not “just” a fan, because after all, and after some years of pushing this idea around in my mind, I decided to pick my keyboard and a blank document in my word processor and write you this letter (after years of life with a PC, my handwriting most probably is so much deteriorated that I don't want to subject you to it). Well, why would I want to do this? Mostly, it's a feeling deep inside of me that I decided to follow; this feeling tells me that you probably will appreciate this kind of fan-mail. Another reason, and certainly not the least important one, is the fact that Camel was with me for the last 25 years, and probably will be for the rest of my life, however long that may be. Camel and its music was with me, touching me, mainly the guitar lines and solos you wrote and played on albums or live. I don't know if you understand what I mean when I say that probably (hopefully!) everybody's soul can be touched by a particular form of art (or other sensory input we might not choose to call art) – for some, it's painting, for others maybe theater or literature, but for most it is music. Certainly for me it is! And within music, it always were certain kinds of melodies that drew me, called me, resonated with an inner longing of my soul – nowadays I know that they always were the ones in minor. The sounds of the electric guitar were even a step further in touching me, I cannot say why I experience it like this, only that it is so. So, what you expressed in many of Camel's tunes, and often by how and what you played on your guitar, was very similar to how I learned to think of myself, my needs and longings – even spiritually (I hope I 'm still making sense so far.....). Emotional solos or melody-lines I listen(ed) to are closer than any other means I knew or know of to communicate what I am, what my soul longs to feel – being one again with all that is. More often than not tunes like Sahara, Lawrence or Ice (live) make me cry from exactly that happiness of being closer to Oneness - at least for a while. And, since you were the “mastermind” behind much of it, I just wanted to let you know that you made a difference!! Thank you so much for being what you are and doing what you do!! I even started to play electric guitar (because of what I heard you do, and also Ritchie Blackmore in his more recent approaches) – at the age of 33!!! I am 40 now, and it still gives me so much joy, trying to express myself on that wonderful instrument. Who knows? Maybe I can touch someone by what I play one day. Reaching the end of this letter, may I ask you some technical things? I know you play this beautiful Burny Les Paul, but I still haven't figured out how you achieve that great, round and mellow sound, for example on many of the tunes on Rajaz, or on some tracks from Harbour of Tears. I have a Goldtop Les Paul and play it through some distortion pedals into an older Engl tube amp. With all of that I am very happy, but I cannot seem to get that particular sound. Neck pickup, high mids, bass and treble lower, low gain on channel 1, a touch of reverb – but then? Hmm....I'd be really happy if you were willing to help me out here...? Anyway, I wish you a good life, happy days, health and luck – blessed be! PS: In case you do want to get in touch, you might prefer email: _nospam_goldtop57@web.de

Listening to Mirage at the moment. Still got the original album when it was released. It had been raining in town that day, and when I got home the cover had wrinkled somewhat (I was Gutted!)The music of Camel is so important to my life now at the age of 45, as it was when I was a teenager. You had, have, and will always impact mine and other people's lives. Thank you Kris

Andy, I've been listening to your music since I was a teenager back in 1970. You are one of the best guitarists I've ever heard and your songs will stand the test of time. I have all your records and a Nod and a Wink which I believe to be your last) is actually one of the best. I hope you are feeling reasonably well at the moment. My advice would be to concentrate on writing as then through CDs we can all appreciate it forever. Good luck mate and thanks for enriching our lives. Best Wishes, Simon

Andy; I just don't have words to express the feelings my heart and mind goes through every time I listen to your music. Also I can't find words of gratitude for all these years of enjoyment you have given me with the most beautiful music I ever heard. I've been a CAMEL fan since 1985 and will be forever. I'm really saddened to hear about your health condition but certainly you will overcome it and pretty soon I'll be hearing your new CD (first in line to buy it in Mexico) because I know you'll be back in your feet in no time. Dear Andy and Susan, I have just read earlier today the bad news about your health problems. I am really sorry to hear that! I wish you a quick recovery! I wanted to write you for quite a long time but never felt ready enough to express what I want to say to you. I am 29 year old and come from Bulgaria in the Southeastern Europe. I heard your music 10 year ago during my army service-I don't remember exactly what was the first I heard-I guess it was the snow Goose or Camel, but a friend of mine was giving me different music cassettes with different bands and you were one of these. It wasn't until bit later-after listening to Moon madness and Breathless that I established as cpnnoiseur of your gift. Through the years I managed to collect most of your work and the more I listened to it the more I liked it and felt it was the right, best and most suitable music to fit me. starting from Slow yourself down to For today it has given me enourmous pleasure and strenght to appreciate life! It is hard to say which is my favourite of all your works-Nude, the goose, moon madness, camel, mirage, rajaz, harbour of tears....they are all so wonderful, so emotional! That guitar of yours is sending shivers all over me and lyrics are so strong... I am just listening to Harbour of Tears now while I am writing - I will never forget first time I heard it 2 years ago: so strong lyrics and such music! Recently a friend of mine was sending me some of the missing parts of the puzzle and I had the chance to hear more of your live records: I will never forgive myself for not trying stronger to get to any of your live performances back in 2003. Later I found out it was a farewell tour...so it was a great source of hope to read you plan some new material and gigs: it will keep me going for a while to fulfil a dream of listening to your music live and hopefully to meet you! I see the lettetr is not as strong as I wanted but I hope you understand taht I am respecting you greatly and that you have contributed so much to my life and to this world with your beautiful music-this is a gift you have supplied to all of us so generously! thank you for all that and strenghts you ahve given me! I wish you once again
